Zebra-Tech Cyclops-7 Self-Contained Hydro-Wiper

Zebra Tech Hydro Wipers are innovative mechanical wiper systems designed to fit and clean a variety of optical instruments, including LI-COR Underwater PAR sensors and Turner Designs Cyclops-7 sensors.

The Hydro-Wiper uses a gentle brushing device to rid its attached optical sensor from deposits and bio-fouling buildup, allowing for accurate data collection in both freshwater and saltwater environments.

The Hydro-Wiper’s field-proven resilience enables long periods of deployment without requiring maintenance or risking data loss, reducing the overall cost of site visits and manual cleaning. Using an embedded microprocessor and precision on-board clock, the Hydro-Wiper can be programmed to wipe at regular intervals ranging from 15 to 720 minutes at an accuracy of +/- 1 minute per year.

Standard Hydro-Wipers operate at depths as great as 30 meters, and there is also an option for units with an extended depth rating of 100 meters. The wiper units are simple to attach and install and are fully-self contained with no system integration required. A drive shaft slip mechanism is also included to prevent gearbox damage.

Zebra-Tech also provides options for impulse wet pluggable connectors on the wipes and/or battery housing, a trigger input for external control of the wiper, and additional cable between the wiper and battery housing. Complete custom designs and configurations are available as well, depending on individual requirements.
