SDL500 Underwater Data LoggerThe SDL500 Submersible Data Logger from NexSens is a completely flood proof, rugged environmental data logging system with numerous real-time telemetry options. It is ideal for deploying sensors in lakes, rivers, wetlands, coastal waters, sewers, and culverts.

This underwater data logger can run for months on eight D-cell alkaline batteries, and optional solar power kits permit long-term unattended monitoring. Common sensor connections include multi-parameter sondes, water quality sensors, temperature strings, Doppler velocity meters, water level sensors, rain gauges, and weather stations.

Real-time telemetry choices include cellular, spread-spectrum radio, or, for the remotest applications, Iridium satellite. A standalone model is also available for direct connection to a laptop, desktop, or compatible mobile device. Additionally, with a Bluetooth-enabled laptop or mobile device, it’s possible to interface with the SDL from anywhere nearby.

The system is configured with five sensor ports for connection to industry-standard digital and analog interfaces including RS-485, SDI-12, 1-wire temp string, 0-2.5 VDC, pulse count, and more. Each sensor port offers a UW receptacle with double O-ring seal for a reliable waterproof connection. There are a wide variety of common sensor connector cables available, and user-supplied cable assemblies can be connectorized and tested at the factory for SDL500 integration. Unlike many data loggers, the SDL500 is truly submersible. The housing and battery compartment are completely sealed and waterproof. The optional radio, cellular, and satellite antennas are also waterproof.

The SDL’s housing is constructed of impact-resistant PVC and includes two elastomer bumpers for long-term deployment in close-fitting pipes and buoy ports. Internal circuit boards and communication modules are shock mounted. The SDL500 withstands extreme wave action, drops, floods, periodic and long-term deployment underwater, and more.
