RM Young Tipping Bucket Rain GaugeThe RM Young Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge is an extremely reliable, research-ready rainfall measurement system. Its tipping bucket mechanism is constructed with exacting precision and high-quality materials that allow high accuracy.

The gauge has a catchment area of 200cm² and measurement resolution of 0.1 mm, meeting specifications from the World Meteorological Organization. The molded thermoplastic tipping bucket is accurate within 2% during rainfall of up to 25 mm/hr and within 3% with rain falling up to 50 mm/hr. Leveling screws and a built-in bullseye level make adjusting the gauge in the field easy and precise.

Ensuring a smooth release of water from each collection bucket is crucial in reducing contamination and measurement errors, which is why this gauge’s bucket geometry and material were specifically selected to allow maximum water release.

The RM Young tipping bucket rain gauge is factory calibrated for immediate use. Periodic inspection and calibration is recommended to keep the bucket assembly, funnel, and screen clear from debris.

An optional thermostatic control system heats the unit in cold climates (-20- 50 degrees Celsius). An unheated option is available for moderate to warm climates. The rain gauge is easily integrated with NexSens data logging and telemetry products.
