YSI 6150 ROX Dissolved Oxygen SensorYSI’s Reliable Oxygen (ROX) optical dissolved oxygen sensor utilizes luminescence-based technology to provide accurate, long-term measurements in severe fouling and low oxygen environments.

The YSI 6150 ROX dissolved oxygen probe is fully compatible with all YSI 6-series multiparameter sondes equipped with optical ports.

In addition to signal stability, the durability of YSI’s ROX DO sensor represents a significant improvement over traditional polarographic sensors. Its maintenance-free and puncture-proof membrane has a usable life of one year and is easy to replace.

Furthermore, an integrated wiping system prevents biofouling for long deployments, with maintenance intervals at several weeks and longer, to ensure accurate readings of dissolved oxygen levels. By reducing deployment site visits, YSI’s optical DO sensor can result in significant savings of time and money for an overall lower cost of ownership than polarographic sensors.

Other advantages of the YSI 6150 ROX include:

  • Zero calibration point option
  • Zero flow dependence
  • No membranes to stretch
  • No electrolyte solution
  • Insensitive to H2S and other interfering gases

To ensure reliable performance in all environmental conditions, YSI has conducted long-term deployment tests around the world in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater conditions. The ROX sensor outperformed even the best polarographic dissolved oxygen systems, according to the results.

Recent Environmental Protection Agency approval of changes to ASTM International D888-09 Standard Test Methods for Dissolved Oxygen in Water include the addition of Test Method C for using luminescent-based optical sensors for determining dissolved oxygen in influent, effluent, and ambient water testing. The luminescence lifetime method offers the most stable, repeatable, and sensitive method for oxygen detection, with a microprocessor-controlled measurement system to reduce drift and improve accuracy.
