    Lake in British Columbia sheds light on Earth’s early life forms

    For years, Pavilion Lake in B.C., Canada has been acknowledged as one of the most morphologically diverse sites for the assortment of freshwater microorganisms by local divers. But for the last seven years, Pavilion Lake Research Project (PLRP) scientists have made it their mission to study and discover the role modern microbialites have had in forming sedimentary rock and determining how some of the same microorganisms that helped create these structures survived the brutal journey to Earth.

    Product Spotlight: Solinst Levelogger Edge

    Solinst recently announced the newest addition to its Levelogger series: the Levelogger Edge, a water level and temperature sensor with an ‘edge’ over previous models.

    The stainless steel Levelogger Edge features a Hastelloy pressure sensor and titanium based PVD coating for increased corrosion resistance. This allows for more stable and reliable readings in extreme pressure and temperature conditions, which can range from -50 to 50⁰ C. With a wider temperature compensated pressure range and improved thermal response time, the Edge can withstand over two times the normal pressure without causing any damage to the logger.
