Great Salt Lake study to determine discharge limits

To determine a discharge permit for a local wastewater plant, scientists are performing a comprehensive water quality study on the Great Salt Lake and its wetlands. The study will not only fulfill the needs of the permit, but also study any pollution affecting the lake and provide more information. Currently, the only pollution limit for the Great Salt Lake is for selenium. The nearly 1,700 square mile lake provides $1.3 billion dollars in revenue through minerals, recreation and brine shrimp.
