Kasich to sign Lake Erie withdrawal bill

Ohio governor John Kasich will sign a revised version of a bill that will regulate Lake Erie water withdrawals by industries. Kasich vetoed the bill earlier this year because withdrawal thresholds were too high. The thresholds in the current version will allow industries to take an average of 2.5 million gallons per day from the lake, averaged over 90 days. The bill is supported by many businesses, but Kristy Meyer of the Ohio Environmental Council said it is not supported by environmental groups or scientists.
